Benji Connell – bio
Benji è un illustratore e artista freelance con formazione architettonica, con oltre 7 anni di esperienza nel settore. Benji ha fondato Concrete Clouds nell’estate 2019, dopo aver trascorso diversi anni nello studio di architettura a Londra, tra scribble e disegno, prima di decidere di aprire il proprio studio di illustrazione per concentrarsi sulla sua passione e continuare a disegnare.
Benji si è laureato in Architettura presso la Mackintosh School of Architecture presso la Glasgow School of Art, dove è stato nominato per la Bram Stoker Medal come riconoscimento del lavoro più fantasioso della scuola d’arte. Negli anni successivi, Benji diventa membro della Society of Architectural Illustration, l’organizzazione di illustrazione architettonica più antica e prestigiosa al mondo.
Benji è un appassionato viaggiatore e urban sketcher ed ha ricevuto nel 2018 la borsa di studio John Kinross della Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture, incaricata di disegnare e produrre opere d’arte ispirate a un lungo soggiorno a Firenze. Ha esposto opere a livello internazionale, da Edimburgo a San Paolo. Il suo lavoro è apparso anche in numerose pubblicazioni per la Royal Society of Ulster Architects, oltre alla rivista Perspective e The Big Conversation.

Benji Connell – biography
Benji is an architecturally trained freelance illustrator and artist, with over 7 years of industry experience. Benji set up Concrete Clouds in summer 2019, having spent a number of years in architectural practice in London, scribbling and sketching, before deciding to set up his own illustration studio to focus on his passion and continue to scribble and sketch.
Benji graduated with a Diploma in Architecture from the Mackintosh School of Architecture at the Glasgow School of Art, where he was nominated for the Bram Stoker Medal acknowledging the most imaginative work across the art school. In the years since, Benji became a Member of the Society of Architectural Illustration, the world’s oldest and most prestigious architectural illustration organisation.
Benji is an avid traveller and urban sketcher and was a 2018 recipient of the John Kinross Scholarship from The Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture, commissioned to draw and produce artwork inspired by an extended stay in Florence. He has exhibited work internationally, from Edinburgh to Sao Paulo. His work has also featured in a number of publications for the Royal Society of Ulster Architects, in addition to Perspective magazine and The Big Conversation.
